The History and the Aircraft of the Air Forces of Canada
 -  from 1914 to today
.

From World War 2 On -  Part 4.

Since the demise of the Warsaw Pact, and the withdrawal of Canada's  Forces from Europe,  there appears to have been an unleashing of the forces of the past  throughout Eastern Europe and beyond: extreme nationalism, ethnic hate, religious animosity and political ambition. To help combat this, either with NATO or the United Nations, the Air Force still contributes to world peace in the same dedicated fashion set by it's forebears, through limited combat operations, humanitarian flights and  peacekeeping missions.

The challenges, which Canada's Air Forces have faced over the years, have been truly formidable, but there was never any shortage of men and women willing to take on the jobs  which were given to them and to get them done - even to the point of paying the supreme sacrifice.

In an isolated cemetery in the Far East where over 1500 Allied soldiers lie buried;  the simple inscription on the memorial reads: "When you go home, tell them of us and say - for your tomorrow we gave our today."  George Santayana, one of the worlds leading philosophers, once wrote:"Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it".

In these two quotations is found the reason why supporting the RCAF Memorial Museum is so important - to tell the story of all of those in Canada's Air Forces who gave their lives so that we may enjoy ours; and, to ensure that one of the most important parts of our past will never be forgotten.

The RCAF Memorial Museum is  the official museum of Canada’s Air Forces, past and present. It protects their heritage and is dedicated to the memory of all who served and, in particular, to those who paid the supreme sacrifice.
