It was June 27, 1917. Likening dog fights to aerial boxing bouts, Lt. Raymond Collishaw led his five man Canadian "Black Flight" against seven Albatrosses of Richtofen's dreaded Jagdstaffel 11. Flying a speedy Sopwith triplane, Collishaw downed Lt. Allmenroeder, Richtofen's number two pilot, on the first pass. He scored sixty victories in all, and went on to command the Royal Air Force in the Middle East in WW 2.
