The History and the Aircraft of the Air
Forces of Canada
- from 1914 to today.
From World War 2 On - Part 3.
Unification
The first step to unify the armed forces was taken in August, 1964 with
the formation of Canadian Forces Headquarters in Ottawa. This was followed in
1965/66 with the formation of Mobile Command headquartered in Montreal Maritime
Command in Halifax, Air Defence Command in North Bay, Air Transport Command at
Trenton, Materiel Command at Rockcliffe, and Training Command in Winnipeg.
In 1967, the Royal Canadian Air Force disappeared in name, but Canada’s Air
Force still lives on and the dedication to duty of the men and women who serve
is as formidable as that of their predecessors.
